KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 — Preparations for the 2015 National Day celebration to be held at Dataran Merdeka here on August 31 is now gaining momentum.
A Bernama survey Friday revealed that installing the Jalur Gemilang is in full swing by the organisers in and around the venue besides getting ready several other events, including #LarianSehatiSejiwa that will be held at Padang Merbok this Sunday.
Posters and banners on the run, organised by the Communications and Multimedia Ministry can be seen in the vicinity of the event venue.
The National Day’s theme #sehatisejiwa (#One Heart One Soul) reflects the spirit of solidarity, understanding, togetherness and humanity of all people in the country.
Generally the people met by Bernama are of the view that the government through the relevant authorities should organise more interesting programmes to liven up the coming National Day celebrations.
A local tourist from Johor, who wanted to be known as Quzi, 32, said this year’s celebration should be more lively with various types of new programmes such as having more sports events.
“If more sports events are organised, we can attract more ‘outsiders’ to visit Malaysia,” he said when met by Bernama at Dataran Merdeka.
Meanwhile a tourist from Australia who wished to known only as Jesabelle, 52, said the celebration would be more lively with fireworks display.
“In Australia, we often see more firework display that is aligned with music on our national day, so I hope to see it here,” she said.
