North Korea has released a provocative new video depicting a nuclear attack on Washington, D.C.
āIf the American imperialists provoke us a bit, we will not hesitate to slap them with a pre-emptive nuclear strike,āĀ the Korean subtitles read, according to a translation in The New York Times. āThe United States must choose! Itās up to you whether the nation called the United States exists on this planet or not.ā
The video, released on YouTube on Friday by North Koreaās DPRK Today, was the latest in a string of provocative words and actions by the isolated nation.
Earlier this month,Ā North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un reportedly ordered his military to prepare to use nuclear weapons in a āpre-emptive attackā in what appeared to be a response to harsh new sanctions imposed by the United Nations.
Those sanctions came after Pyongyang claimed to have tested a hydrogen bomband then, several weeks later,Ā fired a long-range rocket that experts believed was cover for a ballistics missile test.Ā Just last week, North KoreaĀ fired five short-range projectilesĀ into the sea and tested a solid-fuel engine that could be used in a ballistic missile.
