Run For Our Borneon Orangutans, Stand A Chance To Win Prizes Up To RM12,000!

KOTA KINABALU,  4 Aug (Malaysiaaktif) – In conjunction with International Orangutan Day, Sri Pelancongan Sabah Sdn Bhd together with WWF-Malaysia and Sabah Wildlife Department have come together to organise the inaugural orangutan challenge.

The event, “The Amazing Orangutan Challenge: Just How Well Do You Know Your Orangutans?” will be flagged off on the 19th August at the Public Park, Likas Bay open to teams of four participants aged 18 and above.

“The event features a 6 kilometer obstacle run, where participants will be tested on their knowledge of the Bornean Orangutans.

“The Bornean orangutans are an iconic species in Sabah. Over the years, their numbers have been threatened due to continuous loss of habitat.

“Due to their dwindling numbers, the orangutans are a totally protected species in Sabah. With this, the upcoming event is intended to raise greater awareness on the plight of the orangutan in a fun and accessible way.

“We have received a positive response from the public. A total of 25 teams have registered to experience this inaugural orangutan challenge, and we are still open for more participants to join, and to test their knowledge on the darlings of Borneo, the orangutan,”said General Manager of Sri Pelancongan Sabah Sdn. Bhd, Zachary Mobijohn.

“As part of our contribution to the environment, 10 percent of all proceeds will be donated to the WWF-Malaysia Forest Restoration Programme, which aims to rehabilitate orangutan habitat in Sabah,” he added.

The grand prizes for winners are return tickets from Kota Kinabalu to Don Muang Bangkok for four pax plus three days stay in Manukan Villa at Manukan Island with Full Board Meal, Return Boat Transfer and RM800 Cash.
