PETALING JAYA, July 5 — MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed is on a week’s leave during which time deputy chief commissioner of prevention Datuk Mustafar Ali will be filling in for him.

“Yes, I can confirm that,” Mustafar told The Star Online when contacted Wednesday morning.

An online portal had earlier reported a source story confirming that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission head would be taking the aforementioned time off.

His leave from his post is in the wake of MACC officers being hauled up for questioning by the police over the leak of documents pertaining investigations on 1Malaysia Development Bhd.

The commission’s probe into SRC International Bhd, a former 1MDB subsidiary, involving funds of RM4bil is ongoing.

Kassim’s leave also came after the arrests of former MAC advisory board member Tan Sri Rashpal Singh and Attorney-General’s Chambers finance and anti-money laundering secretariat member Jessica Gurmeet Kaur to assist police investigations on the alleged leak.
