Rapid Rail Apologises For Brake Failure Incident

KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 (Malaysiaaktif) – Rapid Rail has apologised to its customers for inconvenience caused resulting from two incidents of brake failures affecting the Kelana Jaya LRT four-car trains yesterday.

According to a press statement issued by Rapid Rail on Wednesday, the company had highlighted the matter to the public in February and what happened yesterday was a continuation of the same problem.

Following identification of the problem, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd has been conducting special checks on the brake systems of the Kelana Jaya Line LRT trains to minimize unwanted incidents

“Additional roving technicians are also being deployed on the ground to ensure swift response in the event of service interruption.”

“The safety of passengers was never threatened,” said the statement.

The train experienced brake failure yesterday, with the first incident involving a Gombak-bound train at Station Setiawangsa at 8.19am.

The second incident involved another Gombak-bound near University Station at 12.18pm.

All passengers were transferred to a rescue train when the fire happened. Both fires were put out by Rapid Rail Rescue Team using fire extinguishers in the trains.
